Neeta Mohindra Opens Up About Her Touching Scene with Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2
Renowned actress Neeta Mohindra has captivated audiences with her stirring performance in the war drama “Border 2,” directed by Anurag Singh. The film features a star-studded cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Neeta plays the role of Harbans Kaur Sekhon, the mother of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, portrayed by Dosanjh. Her emotional depiction of a resilient and compassionate mother imbues the narrative with significant emotional depth. Through nuanced expressions and heartfelt dialogue, Neeta conveys a mother’s courage, sacrifice, and humanity in the context of war, earning accolades from both viewers and critics for her authentic performance.
In an exclusive interview with India.com, Neeta discussed one of the film’s most poignant moments-the scene where Diljit Dosanjh’s character prepares to leave for war. Asked about a particular exchange that underscores a mother’s humanity, she recalled saying, “Each soldier must also seek blessings from his mother. A mother can only give the blessing of life, not of death.” Neeta credited the writers for crafting such a beautifully written scene, stating, “I didn’t add that line; it was given to me, and it resonated deeply.”
Neeta elaborated on the perfection of the writing, explaining, “When a scene is written so beautifully, it’s easier to perform. I’ve been acting since 1978, and things tend to fall into place naturally. It comes down to having a great writer and director, as filmmaking is a collective effort. I am grateful to be part of this film and such a well-crafted scene. The director has a unique approach to extracting emotions, which is vital in making a scene resonate.”
She shared insights into the collaborative process on set, saying, “We rehearsed several times; the first take didn’t fully capture the intention because our director, Anurag, likes to explore multiple angles. After working on it, I wondered if we could interpret the scene differently. I even asked if we could take another shot. But eventually, he told me, ‘You nailed it.’ I consider myself a director’s actor, and it felt rewarding to see my performance resonate.”
Reflecting post-release, Neeta mentioned receiving numerous messages praising her work, similar to the recognition she received for her earlier performance in “Sapne VS Everyone.” She expressed gratitude for the positive response from audiences, affirming the joy it brings to her as an actor.
