Tripura CM’s Urgent Review of Health MoU with AIIMS New Delhi Progress
Chief Minister and Health and Family Welfare Minister Manik Saha reviewed the Action Taken Report regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Tripura government and AIIMS, New Delhi, on Tuesday. The review was conducted via video conference with senior officials from the prestigious medical institution, including AIIMS Director M. Srinivas.
This meeting aimed to evaluate progress made since the MoU was established on October 17, 2025, according to officials from the state Health and Family Welfare Department. The Action Taken Report, which was prepared and presented on January 28, 2026, details a variety of administrative, academic, and infrastructural initiatives undertaken as part of this agreement.
As outlined in the MoU, efforts are being made to establish a health university in Tripura, bolster the institutional workforce, enhance financial independence, and improve IT infrastructure. Many of these initiatives are currently at various implementation stages.
Recruitment of health personnel is progressing in line with existing government regulations through the Health Directorate and the Tripura Public Service Commission. Additionally, coordination with AIIMS is underway to develop faculty programs, training initiatives, and skills enhancement for human resource development.
The report highlights advancements in medical education and academic affairs, including the establishment of new departments, the introduction of skill development courses, modifications to service rules, and training for medical professionals at AIIMS to elevate academic standards.
Furthermore, hospital services and infrastructure improvements are being prioritized. Initiatives focus on enhancing emergency services, expanding intensive care units, operationalizing operating theatres, integrating modern equipment through public-private partnerships, and optimizing supply chain management.
Digital initiatives and patient feedback systems were also assessed during the review. The ‘Mera Aspataal’ application is already operational, and efforts are ongoing to implement AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ app to improve patient feedback collection and service quality.
