
Tragic Mizoram Accident: Two Lives Lost as Car Falls into Gorge
Two individuals tragically lost their lives and another sustained injuries when a car plunged into a gorge in the Saitual district of Mizoram, according to police reports on January 26. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the three occupants were traveling from their village, Luangpawn, to attend a youth conference of the Presbyterian Church in Phullen village, approximately 20 kilometers away.
Officials stated that after the families inquired about the trio at Phullen and learned they had not arrived, local residents from Luangpawn initiated a search operation. The vehicle was subsequently located at the accident site near Phullen.
Initial reports indicate that the car skidded off the road, leading to the fatal plunge into the gorge. The deceased have been identified as Lalthansanga, a 33-year-old driver, and Lalawmsanga, aged 37. Their friend, Lalnunzira, who was injured, was rescued from the scene and taken to Saitual Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities mentioned that the precise cause of the accident has yet to be determined, and an investigation is ongoing.
