Shocking Job Fraud Scam: Anakapalli Police Arrest Two Heartless Scammers!
In a significant breakthrough, Rolugunta police apprehended two individuals, E. Srinu and Sheikh Sailm, on Friday for their alleged involvement in defrauding job seekers by promising them government positions in exchange for hefty sums of money in Anakapalli district. Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha reported that the two suspects were operating a sophisticated scam that exploited the hopes of aspiring candidates.
The scheme unraveled when Srinu approached a DSC aspirant from Rolugunta through her husband. He boasted of strong connections with the Chief Minister’s Office, claiming he could secure an SGT position for her in the upcoming February 2025 DSC examination. For this service, he demanded an astounding ₹15 lakh. To further convince the victim, Srinu fabricated an audio clip designed to sound as though the Chief Minister was speaking directly to him, alongside a deceitful conference call where Sheikh Sailm impersonated an aide to the IT Minister.
Trusting these fraudulent assurances, the victim and others involved paid a total of ₹12.13 lakh across multiple installments. It wasn’t until the victims began to connect the dots and realize they had been scammed that they sought out the assistance of local law enforcement.
After receiving the complaints, police launched an intensive investigation, which quickly uncovered the duo’s previous criminal activities. Authorities discovered that Srinu had a history of similar offenses, underscoring the systemic nature of the fraud. The investigation revealed alarming patterns and tactics employed by the perpetrators, raising concerns about the vulnerability of job seekers in the area and the growing prevalence of such scams.
The arrests of Srinu and Sailm serve as a stark reminder of the desperate lengths to which some individuals will go to exploit the dreams of others. As the investigation continues, police are urging other potential victims to come forward and report any suspicious activities. The case highlights the need for awareness among job aspirants, who must remain vigilant against such deceitful practices aimed at capitalizing on their aspirations.
The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such scams, emphasizing that scams that target the unemployed and hopeful candidates will not be tolerated. They are actively working to enhance public awareness regarding the tactics used by fraudsters to protect potential victims.
The case will be monitored closely as authorities seek justice for those affected and aim to bring further clarity to the scope of wrongdoing by these accused. This alarming incident in Anakapalli district raises critical questions about trust and security in pursuing government jobs, especially in a challenging job market.
As law enforcement continues its investigation, they urge citizens to stay informed and cautious, particularly regarding anyone making promises that sound too good to be true, especially in these uncertain economic times.
