Massive Yaba Tablet Seizure in Goalpara: One Arrested in Major Bust
Goalpara Police seized around 4,000 Yaba tablets during a targeted operation on the night of January 20 along National Highway-17, marking a significant disruption to local narcotics networks. Acting on specific intelligence, officers intercepted a vehicle near Bhimajuli, apprehending a suspected drug supplier named Sirajul Islam, a resident of Krishnai.
The operation was supervised by West Goalpara Co-District Police Officer Abhilash Baruah and Deputy Superintendent of Police Alangkrita Saikia, with support from personnel at Agia Police Station and Goalpara Town Police. During the search, police also confiscated a Swift Dzire car, registration number AS-01BB-7144, which was used for transporting the drugs.
Police estimates suggest the seized narcotics could be worth over ₹4 lakh in the black market. Sirajul Islam has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated. Initial investigations suggest he might be part of a larger drug trafficking network, with authorities suspecting the involvement of additional individuals in the supply chain. Further investigations are ongoing to trace both the source and the intended destination of the seized consignment.
Officials stated that this successful operation underscores Goalpara Police’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and dismantling organized narcotics networks in the district.
