Arunachal Minister Urges Contractors: No Delays in Vital Road Projects!
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Rural Works Department Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona issued a stern warning on Sunday to contractors working on road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP). He stated that the government will not tolerate delays or substandard work. During a circle-level meeting at Rupa in the West Kameng district, Sona emphasized that these projects are essential for enhancing rural connectivity and ensuring public convenience.
The minister highlighted the importance of completing all work within the designated timeframes and meeting established quality standards. To facilitate this, the department has implemented a strict accountability framework aimed at ensuring transparency and smooth execution of the projects. Sona noted that formal agreements have been signed between the department and contractors, holding them accountable to complete their tasks on time and to the required quality.
Making the government’s stance clear, Sona warned that contractors who do not adhere to deadlines will face severe consequences. Such contractors risk being removed from current projects and may also be barred from future tenders. Emphasizing the critical nature of the schemes, he remarked that PMGSY and VVP roads are vital connections for villages. The government’s priority, he stated, is to provide reliable infrastructure that serves the public interest through efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
