Urgent Notice: Special Amendment Process Concludes on January 22
The special brief correction process for Assam’s voter list will conclude on January 22. According to the Election Commission’s directives, this marks the last day for submitting claims and objections. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has issued a notification stating that this entire process is being conducted in accordance with instructions issued on November 17, 2025. Therefore, individuals who have not included their names on the voter list or require any modifications must submit their applications within the specified timeframe.
Eligible individuals wishing to register a new name must submit Form 6. If someone needs to have their name removed or if there are objections to someone else’s name, Form 7 must be filled out. Additionally, Form 8 can be used to correct errors in names or addresses on the voter list, or when there is a change of residence. All these applications must be submitted by January 22.
Applicants can submit their forms directly to their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). Forms can also be accepted at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer for the respective constituency. Those who prefer to complete the process from home may apply online via the Voter Helpline Service portal or mobile application. Legally, a voter may submit any number of Form 7 applications within their constituency, with no specific limit.
Every aware citizen is encouraged to check their name on the draft voter list. If there are any discrepancies or if a name is missing, necessary steps must be taken before January 22 to ensure no eligible voter is deprived of their voting rights. For more information or assistance, individuals may contact their local BLO or call the Election Commission’s toll-free helpline number 1950.
