Meghalaya Girls Excel in Elite Taekwondo Training in Korea!
Shillong, Jan 16: The taekwondo girls’ team from Loreto Convent School in Meghalaya has embarked on an impressive journey, recently completing a rigorous 10-day winter training camp on Jeju Island, South Korea. This training camp is hailed as a significant milestone for the young athletes, providing them with exceptional instruction from renowned Grand Masters Cheol Choe Yong, a 9th Dan Black Belt, and Wan Yong Lee, an 8th Dan Black Belt. Accompanying the team was International Referee and Coach Pinky Narzary, who played a crucial role in guiding the young martial artists through the demanding program.
During their time in Korea, the focus was on refining advanced techniques, enhancing physical conditioning, and instilling discipline. This experience offered a rare chance for the students from Meghalaya to train under world-class instructors in the birthplace of taekwondo. Officials from the school emphasized that this program not only improved the athletes’ technical skills but also enriched their cultural understanding of the martial art. They believe this exposure will significantly aid in the girls’ preparations for upcoming national and international competitions.
