
Tragic Discovery: Newborn Abandoned in Brahmaputra Sparks Police Investigation
The body of a newborn was discovered in the Brahmaputra River near Jogamaya Ghat in Dhubri on Saturday, sparking a police investigation into the events leading to this tragic incident. Local residents alerted the Dhubri Police after spotting the body floating in the water. Responding promptly, a police team retrieved the newborn’s body, which was subsequently sent to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for a medico-legal examination to ascertain the cause and time of death.
The officer-in-charge of Dhubri Police Station confirmed the recovery and announced that an investigation has been initiated to identify the individual responsible and reconstruct the timeline of events surrounding the abandonment. “Only after the investigation will we be able to provide further details,” the official stated.
