In response to the ongoing cold weather, the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has adjusted the school timings for all government, provincialized, and private schools in the district, effective from January 7 through January 13. An official order from the Office of the District Elementary Education Officer-cum-District Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Kamrup (M), indicated that this decision was made following directives from the District Commissioner, Kamrup Metro, with the health and safety of students as a priority.
Under the revised schedule, Primary Schools will operate from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, Upper Primary Schools from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools will run from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm during this period. This regulation applies to all educational institutions within the Kamrup Metropolitan district. School administrators have been instructed to strictly adhere to these new timings, and any deviations will be taken seriously by the authorities.
The notification states that the revised timings are effective immediately. However, any pre-scheduled examinations will continue as originally planned. This measure aims to ensure public safety and promote student welfare, and it has been communicated to the Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Assam, as well as the District Commissioner and Additional District Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, along with other relevant education officials for necessary action.
