Cold Wave Forces Urgent School Closures in Bongaigaon, Assam Until January 10
Amid a severe cold wave affecting the region, the Bongaigaon district administration has announced the temporary closure of all schools in the area to prioritize the health and safety of students. This directive requires all government, provincialized, and private educational institutions to remain closed from January 7 to January 10, 2026.
The closure encompasses all levels of education, including Lower Primary (LP), Upper Primary (UP), Middle English (ME), Middle Vernacular (MV), High, Higher Secondary, and Senior Secondary schools, constituting a comprehensive preventive measure by the administration.
However, institutions where examinations are currently in progress are exempt from this closure, allowing scheduled tests and assessments to continue as planned with appropriate precautions.
In a related directive, the administration has instructed all schools to complete the registration process for ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ by the end of the day, emphasizing the importance of adhering to central educational initiatives despite the temporary closure.
This order has been issued with the endorsement of the District Commissioner of Bongaigaon and is effective immediately. Authorities urge school management and parents to strictly follow the directive and take necessary actions to ensure the well-being of students during the ongoing cold wave.
