Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Suresh Kalmadi passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 81. He had been receiving treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune. According to reports, Kalmadi’s body will be laid out at Kalmadi House in Erandwane until 2 PM to allow friends and supporters to pay their final respects.
The Office of Kalmadi confirmed that he had been suffering from a prolonged illness. Following the viewing, his cremation is scheduled to take place at Vaikunth Smashanbhumi in Navi Peth, Pune, at 3:30 PM. Kalmadi’s contributions to Indian politics and his legacy will be remembered by many, marking the end of an era for his supporters and the Congress party.
