Morigaon District Closes Schools on January 6 Due to Severe Cold Wave
In response to the severe cold wave affecting Assam, the Morigaon district administration has announced the closure of all schools in the area on January 6, prioritizing the health and safety of students. This decision was conveyed through an official order issued on January 5 by Apurba Thakuria, the District Inspector of Schools, following the approval of the District Commissioner. The directive takes immediate effect.
The closure applies to all educational institutions in Morigaon, including government, provincialized, and private schools ranging from Lower Primary (LP) to Higher Secondary levels. However, the administration clarified that this closure will not impact scheduled examinations. The Class X Pre-Board exams set for January 6 will proceed as planned at their designated examination centers.
Officials also noted that this new order supersedes a previous directive, which has now been revoked. The swift action taken reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of students during extreme weather conditions.
