Congress MP Stands Resolutely for Power Sharing in Tamil Nadu: A Bold Call for Change After Assembly Polls
MP B. Manickam Tagore has taken a firm stance on the Congress party’s demand for power-sharing in the Tamil Nadu state government after the upcoming Assembly elections. He asserted that no political party, including the ruling DMK, is expected to secure a clear majority in the polls. “Recent surveys suggest that no party, including the DMK, will be able to form a government independently. However, they indicate that the INDIA bloc is likely to win by a narrow margin of 4%,” Tagore informed reporters while discussing a recent social media post where he emphasized the importance of not only discussing seat distribution but also power sharing.
In his statements, Tagore expressed the Congress party’s readiness to engage in power-sharing arrangements with alliance partners, both at the national and state levels. “We are seeking a share of power within the State government to fulfill the promises made by the Congress party to the public during our election campaign,” he stated. He highlighted that both party general secretary Girish Chodankar and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai have echoed this sentiment.
When prompted about the evolving political landscape in Tamil Nadu and whether it justified Congress’s power-sharing demands, Tagore emphasized that the INDIA alliance requires Congress’s support to secure electoral victory. “We are integral to the alliance, and while the CPI(M) may choose not to participate in the Cabinet, it’s essential for us to have representation,” he said.
Tagore was also questioned regarding the accuracy of the recent electoral survey findings. He acknowledged that all polls carry an error margin ranging from 5% to 8%, but stressed that the data indicates a favorable direction for the INDIA coalition’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
As discussions continue surrounding the power dynamics in Tamil Nadu, the Congress party remains assertive in its expectations from potential alliance partners, stressing the need for cooperative governance to implement key electoral commitments. The political climate remains dynamic, with the forthcoming Assembly elections poised to shape the state’s future governance framework.
This article will remain vital as Tamil Nadu approaches a decisive electoral period, reflecting the ongoing negotiations and strategic alliances forming within the political landscape.
