Unveiling the Truth: Police Investigate ‘Outrageous’ Claims of Teachers Counting Dogs in Shocking FIR!
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood held a press conference in New Delhi on Friday to address allegations surrounding government teachers being instructed to count stray dogs near schools. This follows a complaint lodged by the Directorate of Education (DoE) with the Delhi police, who have since registered an FIR against unknown individuals for allegedly disseminating misleading information. An officer indicated that the FIR cites Sections 353 and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, aimed at those spreading false information intended to incite public unrest.
The controversy erupted earlier in the week when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal criticized the government for what he described as a “demeaning” request placed upon teachers that undermines their professional integrity. According to the DoE, the teacher’s role is strictly academic, with no directive to count stray dogs as claimed by AAP.
Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP’s Delhi president, accused the government of intimidating party volunteers with threats of legal action. In a challenge to the DoE’s position, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha asserted that teachers had indeed been assigned duties related to stray dogs through various official circulars. He pointed to a document from November 20 outlining the need for a nodal officer in every school, along with subsequent circulars that discussed the appointment of these officers and identified teachers assigned to dog-related duties.
Jha raised questions about the legitimacy of these circulars, asking if they were issued without proper approval from the DoE or the Education Department, and whether any corrective action would follow. He demanded accountability from those responsible within the educational system.
Minister Sood countered these allegations, asserting that duties assigned to teachers, including those related to cleanliness and exam supervision, are done at the discretion of the head of school (HoS). He clarified that if tasks were designated for teachers following a Supreme Court order related to safety awareness about dog bites, they did not equate to counting the animals. “This is a misunderstanding,” he remarked, expressing pity for what he deemed AAP’s flawed reasoning.
Sood further denounced claims made by AAP as “fake news,” particularly emphasizing that such misinformation is proliferating on social media. He singled out Kejriwal, accusing him of perpetuating these inaccuracies.
As the situation continues to unfold, both the government and AAP remain entrenched in their respective positions, with teachers caught in the crossfire of this heated political discourse.
