Delhi Police Investigate Tragic Death of Class 11 Boy from Mall Roof
The Delhi Police have initiated an investigation following the tragic death of 16-year-old Kavin Kumar, a Class 11 student, who fell from the roof of the North Gate Orbit Plaza Mall on Sunday. According to police reports, Kumar, along with friends, climbed onto the mall’s fragile roof to film social media reels. During the attempt to impress his peers, he tried to cross over a domed section a second time but fell through a poorly maintained fiberglass panel, resulting in his fatal injury.
Emergency services rushed Kumar to Pentamed Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. The mall, which has been abandoned since 2012, was not kept in a safe condition, raising concerns about its structural integrity.
Kumar’s family is questioning the circumstances surrounding his death. His paternal uncle, Munit Kumar, expressed doubts about the nature of the incident, stating, “We received a call from a family friend that Kumar had met with an accident. Her son, who is also Kumar’s friend, witnessed the scene and saw the boy lying on the floor.” Adding to the family’s concerns, he mentioned that all of Kumar’s friends fled the scene and that the police were alerted by restaurant staff located inside the mall. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
