State on High Alert as Frigid, Foggy Weather Grips Residents
Guwahati experienced a significant drop in temperature on Monday, with many areas in Assam enveloped in heavy fog. The maximum temperature recorded in Guwahati was 18.5 degrees Celsius, which is 6 degrees below normal levels. Residents awoke to cold and foggy conditions, highlighting a notable change in the weather.
In Assam, Dhubri reported the lowest maximum temperature at 16.9 degrees Celsius, while its minimum temperature was recorded at 13.9 degrees Celsius, both figures falling below typical standards. Meanwhile, Dibrugarh had a maximum of 25.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.8 degrees Celsius.
Tezpur also noted a significant temperature variance, reporting a maximum of 17.9 degrees Celsius-6.3 degrees lower than normal-alongside a minimum of 15.6 degrees Celsius.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather bulletin warning of more fog in the coming days. Their forecast indicates that “dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets over Assam.” For Guwahati and its surrounding areas, the weather forecast predicts moderate to dense fog in the morning, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively, over the next 24 hours.
