Mizoram Governor VK Singh Unveils Spectacular National Flag at Zokhawsang
Mizoram Governor VK Singh unfurled a monumental national flag at the Assam Rifles base in Zokhawsang, on the eastern outskirts of Aizawl, on Wednesday. This Tricolour was hoisted on a 108-foot pole, the tallest in the state, an event Singh highlighted as historically significant for Mizoram. He praised the Assam Rifles and the Flag Foundation of India for selecting Zokhawsang as the site and noted that unfurling the flag on Christmas Eve symbolized harmony, hope, and unity among the people.
During the ceremony, Home Minister K. Sapdanga emphasized that the national flag embodies unity, patriotism, selfless sacrifice, and aspirations for a brighter future. He stated, “The Tricolour evokes memories of India’s freedom struggle and instills deep love for the nation, with the monumental flag further strengthening patriotic sentiments.”
Naveen Jindal, chairman of the Flag Foundation of India, participated in the event via video conference. The occasion gathered senior civil and military officers, ex-servicemen, local residents, and schoolchildren, showcasing a collective commitment to the values represented by the national flag.
