Urgent Recall: Ventura Foods Pulls 3,556 Cases of Salad Dressing Due to Shocking Plastic Contamination!
Ventura Foods LLC is recalling over 3,500 cases of salad dressings sold at major retailers, including Costco and Publix, due to the discovery of foreign material in one of the ingredients. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall, emphasizing the safety concerns associated with the affected products.
The California-based company initiated the recall on November 6 after identifying black plastic planting material mixed in with granulated onion, an ingredient used in several of their dressings. The FDA classified this recall as a Class II on December 4, indicating that while the affected products may lead to temporary or medically reversible health effects, the risk of severe injury remains low.
The recall encompasses a range of salad dressings available in various brands and package sizes. Notable items include the Italian Salad Dressing (1 gallon, SKU: 7 67367 00518 4), Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip (1 gallon, SKU: 7 34730 53243 1), Ventura Caesar Dressing (2,000 pounds, SKU: 00 026700 17360 8), and several others. The Caesar Dressing from Costco’s Service Deli and Food Court, along with Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch, are also part of this recall.
These products were distributed across multiple states, including Texas, Florida, Illinois, and New Jersey, among others. On November 7, Costco issued a customer notice advising patrons not to consume certain items made with the affected dressing, specifically Item #19927 Caesar Salad and Item #11444 Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad. The sell-by dates for the affected products range from October 17, 2025, to November 9, 2025, prompting the warehouse chain to encourage customers to return the items for a full refund at any of their locations.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled salad dressings are strongly advised to cease use immediately and seek a return at their point of purchase. For detailed information, customers can reach out to Ventura Foods directly or visit the FDA’s website.
In light of this incident, the FDA continues to stress the importance of product safety and the vigilance required from both companies and consumers. Stay informed and ensure that any affected products are removed from your shelves, prioritizing health and safety.
