The Mizoram government is gearing up to celebrate the festive season in the state capital with the Winter Festival 2025 in Aizawl, as announced by Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Saturday, December 13. The festival is set to kick off on December 15 at the Assam Rifles Ground in Lammual, a central location in the city, and will run until December 23. The finale on December 23 will feature a lively costume parade alongside Christmas carol performances, adding a festive touch to the closing day.
The nine-day event will boast live concerts featuring local and national artists, recreational activities, a designated play area for children, and an array of food and handicraft stalls, ensuring enjoyment for both residents and visitors.
As part of the winter tourism agenda, the Tourism Department will also host “The Last Sunset Watch of 2025” on December 31 at Sakawrhmuituai tlang, a picturesque hilltop just outside Aizawl that is popular among young people and tourists. This event will include live music and various curated stalls, creating a celebratory vibe to ring in the new year.
Looking ahead, the department has announced a Cherry Blossom Festival scheduled for January 6 and 7, 2026, at Phuaibuang village. This festival aims to highlight the region’s natural beauty while promoting tourism in rural communities.
These events are expected to significantly enhance tourism, foster local involvement, and invigorate Mizoram’s winter cultural festivities, making it an exciting period for the state.
