Exposing Drug Trafficking: BJP’s Hidden Agenda in Tripura Uncovered
Agartala: On Saturday, Jitendra Chaudhury, the Leader of the Opposition in Tripura and a member of the CPI-M Politburo, accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using drug trafficking as a political tool to undermine the state’s future. Chaudhury asserted, “The BJP understands that it cannot regain power unless elections are free and fair. Therefore, it has heavily invested in anti-social elements engaged in drug trafficking to jeopardize the future of Tripura.”
He highlighted that recent data shows that nine out of ten individuals arrested on drug-related charges were photographed with prominent BJP figures, including Chief Minister Manik Saha and state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee. He claimed these individuals serve as assets to the ruling party.
Chaudhury further suggested that without manipulation, less than two percent of the currently elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) would have emerged victorious. “Over the last seven and a half years, only a small segment of the population has amassed vast wealth, astonishing even their neighbors. In every locality, there are individuals whose fortunes have surged without any involvement in high-paying professions,” he alleged.
He accused the Chief Minister and other senior BJP leaders of providing political cover to criminals, stating, “The people are preparing to teach the BJP a lesson. In a democracy, the public always has the final say, and we are eagerly awaiting the moment of the BJP’s historic downfall in Tripura, which is inevitable and fast approaching.”
Chaudhury made these remarks during the state conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association.
