Kendriya Vidyalaya and IIT Delhi Join Forces to Enhance STEM Education
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) signed a significant agreement on October 24 to boost STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for school students and offer professional development for teachers. This collaboration marks the first partnership between KVS and any IIT focused on STEM outreach, signaling a formalization of their ongoing cooperation.
According to an official statement, the new agreement encourages KVS students in the Delhi-NCR area to participate in the Sci Tech Spins (STS) Lecture Series, organized by IIT Delhi’s Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives. This year, the STS series hosted eight sessions, engaging students from Classes 9 to 12 across various schools, particularly targeting government institutions and Kendriya Vidyalayas. Approximately 3,000 KV students participated in this popular series in 2025.
Under this collaboration, KV students and teachers will be involved in various STEM activities facilitated by IIT Delhi. The program aims to expose these students to scientific concepts in an enjoyable way, helping them realize the real-world applications of what they learn in textbooks. Additionally, IIT Delhi faculty and students will hold outreach sessions in KVs, inspiring young minds to consider careers in STEM.
The training will encompass the use of emerging technological tools and innovative teaching methods, empowering KV educators with contemporary strategies and advancements in STEM education that enhance classroom experiences. The agreement also includes a structured feedback mechanism to evaluate the programs’ effectiveness, allowing IIT Delhi to gather insights from students and teachers to refine the initiative continuously.
This partnership represents a crucial step in IIT Delhi’s commitment to nurturing curiosity among young learners and better preparing them for STEM subjects. By collaborating closely with KV teachers, the initiative seeks to build on the existing strong educational foundation and address the evolving needs of modern teaching approaches in classrooms.
