Urgent Witness Testimonies in Guwahati: Zubeen Garg Death Probe Continues
Four Assamese nationals residing in Singapore are expected to visit the Assam CID office on October 13 regarding the investigation into the death of singer-actor Zubeen Garg. State authorities have made it clear that the remaining six witnesses must also appear in Guwahati for questioning, emphasizing the importance of their testimony.
Investigators are intensifying their efforts to collect detailed accounts from everyone who was present during the incident, which occurred on September 19 when Garg drowned while swimming off the coast of Singapore.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in a Facebook Live on October 12, “All have to come to Guwahati, no matter what. It is their legal responsibility to assist in the probe,” adding that authorities are prepared to take legal steps if necessary to ensure compliance.
The CID is urging the outstanding witnesses to cooperate and come forward as soon as possible to aid in the ongoing investigation.
One notable individual, Rupkamal Kalita, who was present with Garg at the time of the incident, has already appeared before investigators on October 7. Kalita, who was reportedly on the yacht during the drowning incident, expressed his willingness to assist the authorities and traveled to Guwahati for questioning.
