A rainproof temporary shelter has been set up at Madan Mawlynrei for candidates from the outskirts of Shillong who will participate in Physical Endurance Training for recruitment as Agniveers in the Indian Army. This training will take place at GTC Happy Valley from October 14 to 17. Candidates in need of accommodation can access the Mawlynrei Playground starting from October 12, according to a statement from the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills.
In a significant move, the Meghalaya government has formed a Selection Committee tasked with recommending candidates for the position of Chairman of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB). The committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary and will include various high-ranking officials: the Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, a representative from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, expert member Nababrata Bhattacharjee, and a member nominated by the state government specializing in environmental matters.
Additionally, a ‘Good News Meeting’ is scheduled for October 11 and 12 at Golf Links in Shillong, organized by the Full Gospel Fellowship. This event will feature performances by Vijay Benedict, a renowned playback singer from Bollywood’s 90s era. The performances are set for 4 PM on the first day and at 10 AM, 1:30 PM, and 5 PM on the second day.
In sporting news, the Meghalaya Bridge Association will host the Meghalaya State Bridge Championship 2025 at Zenith Jubelieth Club in Laban from October 24 to 26. Teams from various places, including Karimganj, Silchar, Guwahati, Manipur, and Digboi, are expected to participate in the championship.
