Tripura’s Tourism and Transport Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, met with Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, in New Delhi on September 25 to explore opportunities for expanding tourism initiatives within the state. During the meeting, Chowdhury provided a comprehensive update on current projects and proposed new initiatives aimed at tapping into and enhancing Tripura’s tourism potential. He emphasized the need for financial assistance from the DoNER Ministry to effectively implement these projects.
Scindia responded positively, assuring Chowdhury of the Union Government’s full support for the development of Tripura’s tourism sector. The meeting was also attended by Uttam Kumar Chakma, Secretary of the Department of Tourism, and Prashant Badal Negi, Director of the Department of Tourism.
Chowdhury underscored the significance of Tripura’s rich cultural heritage and its scenic attractions as vital factors for growth in tourism, expressing confidence that with backing from the central government, the state’s tourism industry could be significantly strengthened.
