Tragic Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility: ‘Anti-ICE’ Message Discovered
A shooter armed with a rifle opened fire from a nearby rooftop at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday. The attack resulted in the death of one detainee and left two others in critical condition. The shooter, identified as Joshua Jahn, subsequently took his own life, according to law enforcement officials as reported by CNN. One of the injured detainees is a Mexican national, as confirmed by Mexico’s foreign ministry.
Jahn fired indiscriminately at the ICE building and a nearby unmarked van before ending his own life. As authorities investigate the motives behind the shooting, FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photo on social media showing a bullet casing found at the scene with the phrase “ANTI-ICE” written on it. This bullet was among the unused ammunition recovered, indicating a possible ideological component to the attack, the BBC reported.
At around 7 a.m. local time, the shooter opened fire at the ICE facility. None of the law enforcement officials present were injured during the incident, which is part of an alarming trend of attacks on ICE facilities as the agency increases its efforts to deport illegal immigrants under the policies of former President Donald Trump.
This incident follows a recent spate of targeted violence, including the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk by a shooter using a rifle on September 10 at a Utah university. In response to the incident in Dallas, FBI Director Patel noted ongoing investigations into the shooter’s motives, suggesting a link to ideological extremism.
Shortly after the shooting, Trump criticized what he described as “radical left Democrats” who he claims continuously demonize law enforcement. He further referenced the information shared by Patel, asserting, “It has now been revealed the deranged shooter wrote ‘Anti-ICE’ on his shell casings,” while condemning ongoing violence stemming from the left.
The incident has raised significant concerns about security and the potential for escalating violence against federal facilities as political tensions remain high in the country.
