Shocking Video: 73-Year-Old Congress Worker Humiliated by BJP Cadres for Altering PM Modi’s Image
A heated exchange has erupted between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members following the controversial alteration of an image depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi dressed in a saree. The incident has ignited tensions, with the BJP claiming the manipulated image was accompanied by a derogatory song, prompting their firm backlash.
In a move seen by many as a form of retaliation, BJP workers summoned Prakash “Mama” Pagare, a 73-year-old Congress member, to confront him about the shared image. During the confrontation, Pagare expressed confusion and resistance, questioning, “What are you doing?” However, he was ultimately overpowered by two BJP members who restrained him while another two draped the saree around him. The incident culminated in the chanting of “Bharatiya Janata Party ki Jai,” with one participant seen patting Pagare’s cheek as the group dispersed.
Nandu Parab, the Kalyan district president of the BJP, criticized the morphed image of Modi, labeling it “distasteful and offensive.” He stated, “Posting such a distasteful image of our Prime Minister is not only offensive but also unacceptable. If such attempts are made again to defame our leaders, the BJP will give an even stronger reply.”
The Congress party has condemned the actions of the BJP, asserting that it represents an assault on freedom of speech. Kalyan Congress President Sachin Pote expressed disapproval of the BJP’s approach, suggesting that instead of a public shaming, the party could have taken legal action against Pagare. “Pagare is a senior party worker. If he had posted something objectionable, BJP members should have lodged a complaint with the police instead of misleading him and forcibly making him wear a saree,” he said.
This incident highlights the charged political climate in Maharashtra, where public figures are increasingly at the forefront of controversial media portrayals. Both parties seem to be leveraging such incidents to bolster their narratives among supporters, raising questions about the boundaries of political expression and critique in India.
As the confrontation garners media attention, both Congress and BJP appear prepared to engage in further exchanges as they seek to assert their positions ahead of upcoming electoral contests. The event serves as a stark reminder of the intersection between politics, media representation, and personal dignity in a rapidly digitalizing landscape, where the stakes of public discourse continue to rise.
This incident may become a focal point in ongoing discussions about political satire, freedom of expression, and the responsibilities that come with wielding power in the public realm. As situations like these unfold, they not only reflect the current political tensions but also set the stage for how such disputes will be navigated in the future.
