A tragic road accident in Kandigram, located in the Makhui Bhanga area of Sribhumi, resulted in the death of a college student on Tuesday, September 16. The police reported that the incident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a dumper, leading to the pillion rider, identified as Tupsi Bhattacharya, being thrown under the heavy vehicle’s wheel. She died instantly at the scene.
Joydeep Malakar, the motorcycle’s rider, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Srigouri Hospital for immediate medical attention. The Badarpur police quickly arrived at the accident site, where they recovered Bhattacharya’s body and transported it to Sribhumi Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have seized the dumper involved in the collision and taken it to the police station for further investigation.
Police confirmed that Tupsi Bhattacharya was a student at Badarpur NC College, leaving the local academic community and residents in shock. The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the area, as both the police and the public grapple with the tragic loss of a young life.
