Urgent Reminder: Teachers Must Accept New Posts as Directed by Edn Dept
The Education Department of Arunachal Pradesh has issued an urgent reminder to district education officials, instructing them to relieve all transferred teachers so they can assume their new posts without delay. Education Commissioner Amjad Tak emphasized the importance of immediate action in a directive on Saturday, which requires officials to provide a district-wise report detailing the names and current positions of transferred teachers, the dates they were relieved from their previous schools, and when they will start in their new postings. This report is expected by Monday.
The directive also warns that strict disciplinary actions will be taken against any officials who fail to comply with these orders under the relevant service rules. This push follows a notification from the state government on July 20, announcing the transfer and posting of 203 teachers. This move is part of an ongoing effort to improve the management and efficiency of the state’s educational workforce.
However, resistance has emerged, with numerous teachers expressing reluctance to leave their current positions. Some have cited medical reasons or joint postings with spouses as justifications for their unwillingness. The situation has recently intensified in West Kameng district, where a student organization called for a bandh, or strike, in protest of the transfers. The bandh was later called off after local lawmakers assured the protesters that their concerns would be addressed with higher authorities.
