Massive Meth Seizure: Rs 7.11 Crore Drugs Raided at Mizoram-Myanmar Border
Security forces in Mizoram seized methamphetamine tablets worth ₹7.11 crore in Champhai district, as confirmed by officials on September 14. Troops from the Assam Rifles encountered a suspicious individual at Zokhawthar on Friday. When approached, the suspect abandoned a bag and fled the scene. A subsequent search revealed 2.37 kg of methamphetamine tablets inside the bag.
In a related operation on Saturday, the Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle in Saitual, recovering 8,160 kg of smuggled Burmese areca nuts, valued at ₹52.17 lakh. Two individuals were arrested in connection with this seizure.
Officials indicated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat cross-border smuggling in the region. The measures underline the commitment of security forces to address drug trafficking and other illicit activities affecting local communities.
