The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of synchronized raids across West Bengal, including significant areas in Kolkata, on Monday, September 8, 2025. The ED is also targeting other sand mine owners in the Beliaberia and Jamboni blocks of Jhargram district, indicating a broader effort to dismantle the underground trade.
“The focus of this operation is to unveil the financial networks that are fueling the illegal sand trade. We believe that substantial profits from this racket have found their way into various insurance companies and business ventures,” the official added. As part of their investigation, ED agents are meticulously examining business records, financial documents, and properties associated with key individuals linked to the operation.
