Tragic Violence in Kulgam: Two Terrorists Eliminated, Three Brave Soldiers Injured in Jammu and Kashmir
In Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, a fierce encounter on Monday, September 8, led to the deaths of two terrorists while three soldiers sustained injuries, according to reports from PTI. The Indian Army, in collaboration with the J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is currently engaged in Operation Guddar in the Guddar forest area after receiving specific intelligence indicating terrorist movements.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed in a statement, “One more terrorist has been eliminated in the ongoing Operation at Guddar forest of Kulgam. One soldier suffered injuries and is being evacuated for requisite medical care. The identity of the terrorists is being ascertained.” This operation marks a continued effort to dismantle terrorist networks in the region, with heightened activity following recent intelligence inputs.
On August 13, the Indian Army successfully thwarted another infiltration attempt in the Uri sector, where, tragically, Havildar Ankit Kumar lost his life during the operation. A heartfelt tribute to his bravery was posted by the Chinar Corps on X, stating, “Chinar Corps honors the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Havildar Ankit Kumar, who laid down his life while undertaking operational duty along the Line of Control in Uri, Baramulla. Chinar Warriors salute his immense valor and sacrifice, express deepest condolences, and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.”
Just a day before this incident, the Corps mourned the loss of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who also made the ultimate sacrifice during operational duties along the Line of Control in Baramulla. The message shared by the Chinar Corps reflected deep sorrow, emphasizing their commitment to honor his bravery and support his grieving family.
Additionally, on August 11, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi expressed their condolences for the deaths of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who were martyred during Operation Kulgam, an anti-terror initiative in South Kashmir. The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff conveyed their tribute on X, highlighting the ultimate sacrifice made by these soldiers while affirming their unwavering support to the bereaved families.
As the situation unfolds in Kulgam, the Indian Army and security forces remain vigilant in their mission to ensure peace and stability in the region. The ongoing operations not only aim to neutralize terrorist threats but also to honor the sacrifice of those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
This vital work continues to protect the integrity of the Line of Control and safeguard the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir from the menace of terrorism, as the dedicated personnel strive to uphold peace and security in a challenging environment. The commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to combat terrorism and safeguard national security remains resolute, and each operation underscores the risks faced daily by soldiers in the region.
