He noted the importance of strong leadership, stating, “When somebody tells you that they are going to punish you… if one of them shows weakness, their political career will be over.” He also urged that terminologies associated with colonial dominance be avoided in discussions among nations.
Additionally, the president called for an end to the “unipolar world,” promoting a multipolar global order where no single nation holds dominance over political or security matters. “This new multipolar world should not have any hegemons,” he explained, underscoring that every nation should have equal rights in this framework.
Highlighting the roles of India, China, and Russia, Putin advocated that their economic strength should not equate to political dominance on a global scale. He asserted, “From the international law point of view, everyone must have equal rights, everyone must be in a similar position.”
His remarks are seen as a critique of Western sanctions imposed on Russia following the Ukraine conflict, as well as the tariff measures implemented by the Trump administration, which place tariffs of up to 25 percent on Indian imports, coupled with additional duties related to India’s purchase of Russian crude oil.
