The arrest occurred on August 26 during a coordinated operation involving the Assam Rifles, local police, and paramilitary units in Haolenphai, close to the vital border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district. The suspect is purportedly affiliated with the Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (VVEZ), a group that has faced scrutiny for its criminal activities.
The operation was initiated based on actionable intelligence, prompting security teams to execute a coordinated cordon and search operation in the early morning.
