A police head constable from Dhanushkodi was apprehended while attempting to poach spotted deer in the Rengarkoil beat of the Srivilliputtur Meghamalai Tiger Reserve early Monday morning. Upon arrival, they caught the head constable in the act, armed with a country-made single-barrel rifle, along with two live rounds and three empty cartridges.
During initial questioning, authorities learned that two accomplices managed to flee into the cover of darkness. Local sources identified them as Ponraj from Mamsapuram and Thangaraj from Aladipattti.
