Landslide Disrupts NH-2 in Nagaland: Alternative Route for LMVs Available
The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Nagaland, has issued an urgent traffic advisory due to a landslide that has completely blocked National Highway-2 at KM 12.900 near Tsiesema Basa. This situation necessitates immediate attention, and motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
Light motor vehicles (LMVs) can navigate a detour through the road leading from High Court Junction in Meriema, passing the Nagaland University Campus to Tsiesema Basa, which is situated near the 5 Sector Assam Rifles/Koinonia Prayer Centre Junction.
However, the advisory highlights that the alternative route is narrow, posing challenges for larger vehicles. Consequently, heavy vehicles, especially those destined for Manipur and Dimapur, will be subject to regulation by traffic police based on the current road conditions.
This advisory aims to enhance public safety and ensure the effective management of emergency operations and restoration efforts on the impacted section of NH-2.
In related news, Nagaland is witnessing significant protests following the brutal murder of a 31-year-old woman, emphasizing the community’s heightened concerns around safety and justice.
