Arunachal Pradesh 2026 Awards: Celebrating Bravery and Service Excellence
The Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps led a vibrant Tiranga March in the high-altitude region of Chuna, Arunachal Pradesh, to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. This event featured 160 Gorkha troops and 25 members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) carrying a 100-metre-long National Flag through the picturesque Himalayan grasslands. Approximately 150 local villagers, including children from Mago and Chuna, joined in the march, creating a colorful display of saffron, white, and green.
The local Civil Administration, coordinated by Assistant Commissioner Thutan Wangchu, facilitated the involvement of villagers. Additionally, 23 students and a teacher from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, Varanasi, participated to reconnect with their patriotic roots. After the march, all attendees contributed to a ‘No Plastic Zone’ cleanliness drive, promoting environmental awareness while emphasizing the importance of protecting the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
The sweeping tricolor across the majestic peaks served as a symbol of unity, bringing together soldiers on the frontier, villagers preserving their cultural heritage, and administrators advocating for sustainability. The event underscored the theme of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” reminding everyone that the nation’s future depends on its citizens.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised this spirited demonstration, describing it as the “true spirit of India at its peaks.” The sight of the tricolor transforming this remote area into a scene of national pride and commitment to the environment resonated deeply. Each household in Mago and Chuna hoisted the National Flag, making the celebration a poignant reminder of the shared responsibility of freedom and the importance of collective celebration.
