Massive Explosives Seized in Tini Chukiya: NIA’s Bold Operation
Security forces intercepted a significant cache of explosives from Finbiru village, near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, just a day ahead of the country’s 79th Independence Day, averting a potential terrorist attack.
On Wednesday night, the Assam Rifles seized materials believed to be stockpiled by the militant groups ULFA (Independent) and NSCN (KYA) for bomb-making and possible assaults during national celebrations.
The discovery, located just seven kilometers from Tipong in the Tinisukia district, yielded a substantial amount of weaponry, including 18 radio sets, four radio chargers, six electric wires, one handmade pistol, 59 detonators, six primers, two bomb fuses, and 60 rounds of live ammunition.
A senior security official remarked that the seizure was a timely measure that eliminated a dangerous threat in the area. Another source involved in the operation stated that the recovered materials indicated a clear intention to disrupt Independence Day celebrations.
While the seized items were referred to the Assam police for further investigation, additional search operations were launched in the bordering areas to ensure no further threats existed.
In light of increased security alerts across the northeastern region, authorities have heightened patrols and surveillance measures in the area.
