Google Slams Apple Over Siri’s AI Delays: Time to Upgrade Your Phone for a Smarter Future!
Google is seizing the opportunity presented by Apple’s delay in launching its new AI-driven Siri to promote its upcoming Pixel 10 series. In a recent ad campaign, the tech giant subtly critiques Apple for failing to deliver promised AI features that were showcased over a year ago. Without explicitly naming Apple, the ad delivers a pointed message: “If you buy a new phone because of a feature that’s coming soon, but it’s been coming soon for a full year, you could change your definition of soon. Or you could just change your phone.” This witticism comes in the wake of Apple announcing that its personalized Siri, which relies on Apple Intelligence, will now launch in 2026, a significant delay from the previously targeted 2025. This postponement has ignited frustration among Apple’s user base, leading some to pursue legal action over perceived misleading marketing practices.
In contrast, Google is gearing up for the launch of its latest Pixel smartphones, expected to arrive later this month. The Pixel 10 series is slated for announcement on August 20, with pre-orders opening the same day and shipping anticipated to commence by August 28. This series is expected to unveil four models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Accompanying the phones, Google may also unveil the Pixel Watch 4 and the next-generation Pixel Buds 2a.
Customers can expect significant design changes and enhancements to the camera setup in the basic Pixel 10 model. While maintaining a familiar shape, it will feature new color options, likely replacing shades from the Pixel 9 series such as Peony, Wintergreen, and Porcelain with fresh colors like Indigo, Frost, and Limoncello. Obsidian will be the sole shade to carry over from the previous model. The most notable upgrade is the introduction of a triple-camera system in the base Pixel model, which is rumored to include a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens-an upgrade previously exclusive to Pro models. The design of the camera bar will largely stay the same, though it will feature a larger glass cover.
For those seeking enhanced performance, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will likely be powered by Google’s latest Tensor G5 chip, built using TSMC’s 3nm process. While the display sizes are expected to remain the same as last year’s models-6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.8 inches for the Pro XL-the battery capacity is getting a noticeable upgrade. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is rumored to house a 5,200mAh battery, the largest ever in a Pixel device.
Additionally, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, anticipated to be the priciest model, will retain the design language of the previous Pixel 9 Pro Fold while adding subtle enhancements. The cover screen is expected to increase to 6.4 inches, bezels will be reduced, and a larger 5,015mAh battery is on the way. Charging speeds are likely to see a minor boost, with 23W wired and 15W wireless capabilities via Qi2.
All models in the Pixel 10 series are expected to run on Android 16, featuring a suite of enhanced AI tools, updated Material 3 visuals, and potentially new widgets. Though the devices may not visually diverge drastically from the Pixel 9 generation, substantial improvements in performance, battery life, and camera technology are poised to make them compelling contenders in the smartphone market.
