
Extreme Heatwave in UAE: Temperature Hits 51.8°C – Warnings Issued!
The desert region of Sweihan in the UAE experienced a scorching temperature of 51.8 degrees Celsius on August 1, marking the highest level since 2021, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Early August has seen temperatures reach record levels, with daily readings in the interior areas consistently exceeding 50 degrees during June and July. Meanwhile, coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi have recorded temperatures around 45 degrees Celsius.
The previous highest temperature recorded in the UAE was 52.1 degrees Celsius in Sweihan during July 2002. Forecasts from the NCM indicate that the remainder of the summer may be hotter than usual, suggesting that August temperatures could be 0.25 to 0.5 degrees Celsius above the average. Residents are cautioned to minimize their time in the sun and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
