Notably, transactions involving stablecoins on Ethereum hit $28 trillion last year-more than the combined volume of Mastercard and Visa.
Despite facing significant hurdles, including competition from newer blockchains and platforms, Ethereum’s transition to a proof-of-stake model drastically reduced its energy consumption and laid the groundwork for future upgrades. Buterin emphasized that the next decade will be crucial for Ethereum, focusing on enhancing scalability and security without compromising its core values.
