Sikkim Teacher Arrested for Sexually Abusing 14-Year-Old Student: Shocking Case Revealed
The Sikkim police apprehended a school teacher and two other individuals for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor student in Gyalshing district, as reported on July 16. The victim, a seventh-grade student, had come forward with accusations that the teacher and the two accomplices had abused her.
On July 14, the headmistress of the school formally lodged a complaint with the Gyalshing police regarding the alleged offenses. Following the submission of evidence, law enforcement took swift action, arresting all three suspects. The individuals have been charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
This incident follows another serious case in the same district, where police arrested eight people-four of whom are boys-for the repeated rape of a 13-year-old girl over several months. That case came to light after a complaint was filed by the Child Welfare Committee on April 11, following alerts from the girl’s school concerning her troubling condition.
These events have raised significant concerns about child safety in the region and highlight the need for stringent measures to protect vulnerable students.
