Mumbai police have arrested Vedika Prakash Shetty, the former personal assistant of actress Alia Bhatt, on charges of cheating and embezzling money from her production company’s accounts. Vedika was apprehended in Bengaluru, where she had been working as a secretary for Bhatt’s company, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd.
According to police reports, Vedika, due to her position, had access to financial matters and authority over the company’s funds. It is alleged that she embezzled over Rs 76 lakhs from the firm’s account between August 2022 and 2024. The complaint was lodged by Soni Bhatt at Mumbai’s Juhu Police Station earlier this year. Following the complaint, a case against Vedika was officially registered on January 23, 2025, under sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In the meantime, Alia Bhatt continues to focus on her film career, currently shooting for her upcoming project titled Alpha. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is poised to be a noteworthy addition to Yash Raj Films’ acclaimed spy universe and is set for release on December 25. Additionally, Alia is working on another film, Love and War, alongside actors Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, directed by the renowned Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
