The unions are advocating for an eight-hour workday, the restoration of a non-contributory Old Pension Scheme, and a minimum monthly pension of ₹9,000 for subscribers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
The unions assert that current economic policies are exacerbating unemployment, inflating prices of essential goods, and leading to diminished wages. The forum further critiques the recently enacted four labor codes, arguing that they are designed to undermine the trade union movement. They demand that scheme workers-including Anganwadi, ASHA, and midday meal staff-be granted formal worker status and that they receive coverage under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
