Discover Year-Round Adventure at Manas National Park: Open for Tourists!
Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Assam, is set to remain open for tourists year-round, including during the rainy season. This decision follows discussions between the Bodoland Territorial Council’s (BTC) tourism department and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. BTC Executive Member for Tourism, Dharm Narayan Das, made this announcement on Monday during a program in Golagaon, Baksa district. He explained that the initiative aims to enhance tourism by taking advantage of the increased visitor numbers since peace has returned to the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Das also laid the foundation for a new welcome gate at Golagaon, which has recently been designated a “Green Village.” An allocation of approximately Rs 40 lakh has been set aside to develop Golagaon under the Green Village initiative. Typically, Manas National Park closes during the monsoon season due to adverse weather conditions and safety issues. However, authorities believe that recent improvements in security and infrastructure make it viable for the park to welcome tourists year-round. This change could provide a significant boost to local economies and livelihoods in the region.
