Maithan Alloys Closes Byrnihat Unit Indefinitely: Power Costs Surge!
Maithan Alloys Ltd has announced the closure of its Byrnihat facility in Meghalaya, effective August 31, due to rising power costs and adverse market conditions. The company indicated that this shutdown will last indefinitely, as detailed in a regulatory filing on Monday.
The Byrnihat unit played a significant role in the company’s financials, contributing 6.12 percent to its overall turnover and 8.16 percent to its net worth for the 2024-25 fiscal year. In the previous fiscal year, the total revenue from this unit reached Rs 112.17 crore.
Maithan Alloys operates three manufacturing units located in West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Andhra Pradesh. It is recognized as a leading producer of manganese and ferro alloys, which are essential materials in steel manufacturing.
