Unlocking Peace: Is Trump Truly Committed to a Meaningful Deal?
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, asserted on Saturday that U.S. President Donald Trump must abandon his “disrespectful tone” toward Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, if the U.S. hopes to forge a deal with Iran. Emphasizing Iran’s resilience against threats and insults, Araghchi stated that the nation would not hesitate to showcase its true capabilities.
In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi likened the complexity and tenacity of the Iranian people to the intricate craftsmanship of their renowned carpets, which embody hours of hard work and patience. He highlighted that Iranians profoundly value their independence and identity, declaring, “We know our worth and never allow anyone else to decide our destiny.”
He urged President Trump, saying, “If you truly seek a deal, set aside the disrespectful and unacceptable rhetoric aimed at Grand Ayatollah Khamenei and refrain from offending his devoted followers.”
Araghchi further emphasized that the resilient Iranian populace, which has demonstrated strength in the face of adversity, does not welcome threats. He warned that if misconceptions endure, Iran is prepared to reveal its full capabilities, debunking any illusions about its power.
He concluded his remarks with the statement, “Good will begets good will, and respect begets respect.” These comments come amid indications from the U.S. about a possible dialogue with Iran.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Thursday that the Trump administration is concentrating on diplomacy and peace, maintaining open communication with Iranian counterparts. In a press briefing, Leavitt remarked, “I spoke to our special envoy Witkoff this morning, and we continue to engage with the Iranians through intermediaries, including our Qatari allies, who have been instrumental in this process. Our administration is committed to achieving a resolution where Iran agrees to a non-enrichment civil nuclear program.”
Her comments follow recent precision strikes by the U.S. on three Iranian nuclear sites under Operation ‘Midnight Hammer’.
