Tragic Delhi Showdown: Son Arrested for Father’s Death in Shocking Tempo Dispute
A shocking incident unfolded in North Delhi’s Timarpur area on Thursday evening, when a 26-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his father over a dispute regarding seating arrangements in a hired tempo. The confrontation erupted as the family was preparing to relocate to their native village in Uttarakhand, following the father’s recent retirement.
The victim, identified as Surendra Singh, a 60-year-old retired sub-inspector from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), was struck by a bullet that caused multiple injuries to his face. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM near MS Block, where local police heard a gunshot and promptly arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, they found Singh lying in a pool of blood, while bystanders attempted to disarm the alleged shooter, Deepak.
Emergency responders rushed Singh to HRH Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The confrontation reportedly stemmed from a heated argument between Singh and his son over who would occupy the front seat of the tempo loaded with their belongings. Deepak, feeling denied of the seat, reacted violently, allegedly retrieving his father’s licensed firearm and shooting him.
Authorities quickly apprehended Deepak at the scene and recovered the weapon along with 11 live cartridges. A case of murder has been registered, and police are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of how minor disputes can escalate into grave outcomes. Family disputes, when left unresolved, can lead to devastating consequences, as seen in this case involving a retired officer and his son.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left in shock, grappling with the aftermath of this senseless act.
