Shocking Assault: Supertech Eco Village Residents Attacked by Guards After Power Cut Complaints | Watch the Disturbing Incident

A violent altercation broke out at Supertech Eco Village 1 in Greater Noida on Thursday night involving security and maintenance personnel, who allegedly assaulted residents following complaints about an extended power outage. Disturbing videos circulating on social media depict security guards striking residents with batons and sticks, as well as physically assaulting them with punches and kicks.

According to a report by the Times of India, residents had sought assistance at the security office after experiencing several hours without electricity. In response to their inquiries, on-site security and maintenance staff reportedly reacted with aggression, leading to the confrontation.

DCP Central Noida confirmed that an FIR has been lodged at the Bisrakh police station in connection with the incident. In an official statement shared on social media platform X, the DCP noted, “A dispute and scuffle occurred between residents and the maintenance team at Eco Village 1 over an electricity issue. The Bisrakh police have registered an FIR and have taken those involved in the assault into custody. Further necessary action is being taken.”

In a separate spotlight on energy issues, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans on Thursday to reduce power tariffs by 26% over the next five years. In a post on X, Fadnavis highlighted the state’s commitment to cutting electricity costs, starting with an initial 10% reduction in the first year, a significant move described as a historic first for Maharashtra.

Fadnavis explained that this tariff reduction follows a petition filed by Mahavitaran, the state’s electricity distribution company, which was approved by the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). He emphasized that the new rates will benefit all consumer categories-domestic, commercial, and industrial. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit the 70% of consumers using less than 100 units of electricity, who will see a maximum rate reduction of 10%.

Additionally, the Chief Minister outlined ongoing efforts under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0 to ensure stable daytime electricity supply for farmers. He also noted the emphasis on green energy in upcoming power purchase agreements, suggesting that this focus could lead to further savings in electricity costs.

As residents in Greater Noida continue to grapple with the fallout from the violent incident, discussions around energy supply and costs highlight the broader implications of service provision in regional communities. The contrasting narratives of violence and reform in energy pricing underscore the ongoing challenges faced by both residents and governmental bodies in managing essential services.

Moving forward, it will be crucial for authorities to address the situation at Supertech Eco Village 1 comprehensively to restore order and ensure that residents feel secure in their homes, while also navigating the complexities of energy supply and pricing reforms in Maharashtra.
