Join the Excitement: Half-Marathon ‘Run for Happiness’ in Tamulpur on June 29!
The Tamulpur district of Assam is set to host a state-level half-marathon called “Run for Happiness” on June 29, with the goal of raising awareness about drug and substance abuse. District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty announced the initiative during a press conference at the District Commissioner’s Office on Thursday.
The 21-kilometer race will kick off at 6 am from the Mela Chowk bus stop in Darranga, offering participants a chance to win prizes totaling Rs. 1 lakh. This event is organized in collaboration with Assam Police, SM Group, Smile Asia, and other supporters, gaining recognition from the Assam Athletics Association.
“Drug and substance abuse is a pressing challenge in today’s society. This marathon is not just a race but a collective call for awareness and action,” Chakravarty emphasized, urging community members to engage actively in the event.
The competition is open to both men and women, with over 100 participants from Assam already registered online. School students and local residents are particularly encouraged to take part in promoting this important message.
Organizers hope the marathon will inspire individuals and communities to strive for a healthier, drug-free society while fostering unity and resilience among participants.
